Pregnancy can be a very difficult situation that a woman has to go through. Growing another living being inside of you is taxing and takes its toll on the body. One of the main areas affected by pregnancy has to be the spine, particularly the tailbone area.

Those mothers who decide to terminate their pregnancies through abortion also experience trauma that is not only emotional, but physical as well. The different methods used cause pain days after the termination has taken place, simply because the body has adapted to holding an expanding uterus with the baby’s growing weight. Also, abortion methods that involve probing can have effects on the spine as well.

However, physical therapy can be used to help heal a mother of her physical pains. Sometimes as per the pregnancy process, epidurals may be added to the mix that involves injecting the spine. This leads to prolonged lower back pain. Also, by carrying the baby, the spine begins to arch by the end of 9 months.

It is important that you first approach your gynecologist to recommend the perfect physical therapy methods that would help you to heal properly. Also, your therapist should be someone who is specialized with new mothers and pregnant women so that they can assist properly with the healing process.

Even if you’re still pregnant, it is imperative that you work out methods to make the pregnancy and birthing process as pain-free as possible. This includes exercises like Pilates, yoga and other forms of stretching and nerve-relaxing techniques. And if you are someone who has either suffered a miscarriage or has gone through an abortion, then taking care of yourself for possible future pregnancies along with a healthy body is imperative. Using healing methods like specialized physical therapy or even massages and other alternate methods of healing will greatly benefit you in the short and long run.
